Some detail-oriented people may have noticed that

although the year has ended,
I never finished my Photo of the Week postings.

Currently, there are 42 weeks posted, but I have 5 more to post,

which still only brings us to Week 47

- 5 weeks short of 52.

For others of you, the above explanation just contained

way too many numbers

and you really couldn't care either way.

So let me remedy my tardiness of the last 5 weeks

and LET ME NOT try to make up the 5 missing weeks.

(I'm already being sneaky enough by posting this on the last day (minute) of last year.

When today is clearly January 2nd in the year of our Lord 2010.)

And let it suffice that I will try to be more diligent in the coming year

For the past weeks, Caleb has been picking up any object that resembled a balloon,
lifting it up and flying it, saying Balloon Festival!!
We had been preparing to spend this weekend at a Balloon Festival,
our traditional trip in the fall.



It was not to be... Ariana is not ready for the 3-hour drive.

So, what are we doing instead?
Caleb woke Daddy this morning, explaining it all to him:
We cannot go to the Balloon Festival,
because baby cries a lot,
so we are going to the Apple Festival!

Believe it or not, Caleb has never had hot dogs before. Yes, I have managed to keep this nutritionally deficient, horrible processed meat away from my firstborn for the past two and a half years. So why is he eating hot dogs now - for the first time ever?

This is why.

His schoolwork made us do it.

It had a page with a hot dog, for which he needed to draw ketchup, mustard, and relish... great if you know what a hot dog is, but you're kind of clueless if you don't.

So, his schoolwork inspired our hot dog lunch the next day.

Anything for the sake of education, right?

He was most fascinated with the idea that the meat is encircled by the bread.

Oh, and also that the meal included "Chips, Daddy!" -

with Mommy's permission, right at the dining table!

I figured, if we're going to be unhealthy, we might as well go all out!
